The Global Fund has publised a progress report covering the period between September 2020 and December 2021, covering the support of the World Alliance of YMCAs and Y’s Men International to the Global Fund.

The World Alliance of YMCAs and Y’s Men International pledged US$500,000 for malaria interventions in support of the Global Fund’s Sixth Replenishment, covering 2020-2022:

  1. US$ 300,000 as a financial contribution: US$200,000 has been received
  2. US$ 200,000 in-kind contribution through advocacy activities and community engagement (currently in discussion): partnerships with Country Coordinating Mechanisms and Friends of the Global Fund network

The pledge of the World Alliance of YMCAs and Y’s Men International is notionally earmarked to the Global Fund malaria programs worldwide.

The current report is based on the Global Fund’s Results Report 2021. Health programs supported by the Global Fund partnership had saved 44 million lives as of the end of 2020. That achievement is the result of efforts by a wide array of actors comprising the Global Fund partnership, including governments, multilateral agencies, bilateral partners, civil society groups, people affected by the diseases, and the private sector, partners such as World Alliance of YMCAs and Y’s Men International.

The Global Fund and its beneficiaries would like to thank the World Alliance of YMCAs and Y’s Men International and their members for their important contribution to the global fight against malaria. The partnership is a great example of how communities can be driven in support of advancing the global health agenda. We applaud the commitment and look forward to continuing driving impact together.
