The International Association of Y’s Men’s Clubs is mourning the loss of Past International President Mr John L. Choa, who died on 31 January 2025. He was 81 years old.

A dedicated Y’s Man and an influential leader, John L. Choa was an active member of the Manila Downtown Y’s Men’s Club in the Philippines​. His lifelong commitment to the movement saw him serve in numerous leadership roles in his home club, Region, and internationally.

PIP John’s leadership within Y’s Men International was marked by his tenure as an International Council Member from 2000 to 2003 and as Asia Area President in 2002/03. His dedication and vision led to his election as International President for 2004/05, during which he championed the theme “Let Your Light Shine”, reflecting his belief in service, community, and faith​.

Beyond his contributions to YMI, John L. Choa was a well-known lawyer and businessman, holding degrees in commerce and law from Far Eastern University. He served as President of JLC Group of Companies, Senior Partner at Choa, Montilla, Albeza & Associate Law Offices, and held leadership roles in organisations such as the Printing Industries Association of the Philippines and the National Book Development Board​.

John remained an engaged and respected figure within the movement long after his presidency. He regularly attended major Area and international gatherings, including the 100th-anniversary celebrations in Taipei in March 2023, where he joined fellow PIPs in commemorating the milestone​.

His passing is deeply felt by friends, colleagues, and the entire Y’s Men community. Those who knew him will remember him for his warmth, leadership, and unwavering commitment to service.
