The Global Fund has acknowledged the support of Y’s Men International in helping secure USD 3.5 billion in funding from the U.S. government.
Mr Francoise Vanni, Director of External Relations and Communications at the Global Fund, thanked YMI for joining with other business partners for co-signing an earlier letter to strongly encourage the United States’ Congress to address global aspects of the pandemic in the COVID-19 emergency funding legislation, including significant funding for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
In the letter received this week, the Global Fund recognised YMI’s leadership in supporting a global and comprehensive response to the pandemic. It was noted that it will not only save lives and livelihoods but also bring the end of the pandemic significantly closer to reduce suffering and help economies to re-open faster.
After joining a multi-stakeholder partnership with the World YMCA to support The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in 2019, YMI contributed USD 100,000 to the Global Fund in December last year, representing the annual commitment to assist malaria intervention projects worldwide.
